The EDM industry has many controversial inside stories and Ghost Production has been the most prominent one amongst all. Ghost Production is basically a composition of tracks by an artist which is released by another artist under his name and the name of the original producer is nowhere to be mentioned. Though it has been a controversial topic, some artists have been completely open about it.
Maarten Vorwek, the biggest ghost producer of the EDM industry. He has been open about this career as ghost producer. He has stated that he has worked for many renowned artists but nerve mentions any name. Another big example is Martin Garrix, who began his career as a ghost producer and never tried to cover up that image.
Other big artists who have been accused of using ghost production share their views on the same. Here are statements from some big artists who have been interviewed about their views on ghost production.
According to DVLM, people have confusion about the whole concept of ghost production. They believe having an extra hand in the production work is not ghost production. If some outside help is received in the production, then it’s any way in favor of everyone as the motto is to produce a good music after all.
David Guetta says, “THERE’S A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HAVING ‘GHOST PRODUCERS’ OR WORKING AS A TEAM. IT’S TOTALLY COOL TO WORK AS A TEAM AND EVERYONE SHOULD BE CREDITED. AND PAID. BIT LIKE BEING IN A BAND.”
When Afrojack was interviewed about his views on ghost production he said that using ghost production is fine as far as you are agreeing to it. Hiding it and acting like you do not know what’s happening is stupid as per him.
Steve Aoki has also put his point saying, “I don’t really have a problem with it so much.”
After these artists shared their opinions on ghost production, people have been pliable about this controversial topic and we hope the harmony remains.
